RPPC conducts scientific and analytical research focused on the problems of elections and electoral technologies (federal and regional levels), defense and security issues, and perspectives on Russian federalism. The center aims to support dialogue between the public political organizations of different ideological orientations and state stuctures.

IMEMO is a center of scientific thought, analyzing the economic, domestic, foreign, and military policies of Western and developing countries as well as a wider range of global problems, the world economy, and international relations. The institute carries out comprehensive comparative research on a variety of issues concerning contemporary world progress from the point of view of Russia's national interests and its integration into the world economy. Great importance is attached to analysis of changes in economic, political, and social relations in the world community and their significance for strengthening international security and stability and promoting international cooperation. IMEMO is committed to fundamental and applied studies, independent analysis, and a democratic viewpoint.

The main task of IFES is the comprehensive study of China, Japan, South Korea and North Korea; relations of the former Soviet republics and Russia with these states; and the experiences in social and economic development of these states. The institute is a leading academic institution of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which coordinates research work on current political problems in China, Japan, the Korean Peninsula and internationally, and on the process of economic integration in the Asia-Pacific region. For more than 30 years, IFES RAS has been one of the largest academic centers for comprehensive research work on East Asia and Russia's relations with this region.

IEIE SB RAS's main objectives were originally directed on the creation of an economic basis for development of studies in Siberia, the application of economic-mathematical methods, and the training of economists in Siberia. Today, IEIE SB RAS conducts fundamental and applied researches in the fields of economics and sociology; makes scientific and methodological recommendations for central and regional administrations, enterprises, and other organizations; disseminates scientific knowledge and education; and advances international collaboration in relation to the institute's areas of researches.

IUE was established to identify, analyze, and promote solutions to the social and economic problems of urban areas. The main focuses of IUE are (1) the elaboration and introduction of new approaches to the solution of housing problems; (2) issues covering the financing of housing and the urban infrastructure; (3) municipal management; (4) urban land use; (5) social protection of the population; and (6) other problems related to the social and economic life of cities.

CSR "North-West" conducts policy research on a wide range of issues. Its prime goals are to (1) contribute to the socio-economic development and cooperation between the regions and municipal entities of the Russian Federation that makes up the Northwest Federal District; and (2) create an environment for interaction and effective communication between individuals and legal entities that contribute to the development of Russia's Northwest.
